Wavescape at DIFF

The Durban International Film Fest is breathing down our necks and since Durban is very much a surf city, there’s a good chance many of you will be hitting the Wavescape part of the festival. Check out what you have to look forward to this year.

DIFF starts in just over a week and one of the highlights every year is the Wavescape Surf Film Festival. A collection of (mostly) surf cinema screened from the 21st of July until the 27th of July, Wavescape will take place at the Wavehouse in Gateway, Ster Kinekor Musgrave and the Bay of Plenty Lawns for the opening film, Surfing & Sharks. Some of my fondest film fest memories are catching the opening Wavescape film under the stars on the Bay of Plenty Lawns with a couple thousand other people. Take a basket with some snacks and drinks and make sure you get down to the opening on the 22nd of July.

There will also be a beach clean-up mission on Sunday the 22nd at 2pm. Anyone interested can join the Wavescape team and the Durban Beach Clean-up Crew at the Bay of Plenty and for information, you can check out Durban Beach Clean-up on Facebook.

Here’s the programme for the Wavescape festival, you can click the name of the film to read it’s description.

So keen for it too. Heard amazing things and I’m so stoked to see it on the big screen.
